What is a higher high & lower low indicator?

This is a Momentum indicator that helps determine the direction of a trend. Higher Highs and Lower Lows are two indicators plotted together, so they can be easily compared. The default classical setting is 20 periods which means that How High the Higher High is relative to the Lowest High in the specific period (bars), and vice-versa.

When is a low a higher low?

When the lowest point of the current candle is above the lowest point of the previous day’s wick, we have a higher low. Similarly to the “lower high” pattern, the current candle must close before we can truly define it as a higher low because the price could drop at any point, turning it into a “lower low”.

What is a higher high & a lower high?

When looking for “Higher highs” and “Lower highs”, we are only looking at the top of each candle. If the highest point of the wick on today’s candle is higher than the highest price we saw throughout yesterday, this is defined as a higher high.
